How the guide is researched

Leonard Reed compares exact manufacturer configurations, instruction manuals, official support material and identified retailer selections. Battery, wheels, drive, remote, charger, regional availability, replacement requirements and ownership limitations are checked together. Actual check dates and source captures are retained in the publication’s private research ledger.

The homepage is the 2027 buying edition. Its current coverage combines product research with original editorial analysis; firsthand findings are added when an exact-board ride record is complete. Manufacturer range, weight and capacity remain attributed specifications. Calculations are labelled; estimates are not recast as measurements. Product-specific physical observations require a genuine record for the actual model and conditions.

Leonard’s biography and riding history were supplied for this publication. Personally ridden boards and published, documented reviews are different counts. Independent publications may inform market research; their testing is not reused as Leonard’s.

When sources disagree

The guide identifies the exact conflicting load, weight, kit or battery statement and asks the reader to resolve it for the shipped revision. An inaccessible source is not automatically a broken page or a discontinued product. Pre-orders, unavailable items and configurations with unresolved core specifications are excluded from automatic selection-tool matches.

How the selector works

The tool uses the manufacturer-listed board price with a strict “less than” budget test, identified surface/wheel setup, experience, carrying needs and drivetrain preference. Frequent-carry matching requires a known listed mass of 9kg or less. Rough-pavement matching requires street wheels of at least 100mm; pneumatic AT selection uses an identified pneumatic setup. These are editorial filters, not handling guarantees. Capacity and simplicity preferences order remaining matches. No measured ride score or range prediction is generated.

Manuals, batteries & ownership

Follow the actual shipped board’s manual and charger instructions. Check official recall information for the exact board and battery before purchase; a targeted research search is not a recall-free certification.
