Editorial Policy and Source Standards

The short answer

Recommendations must explain the buyer, the compromise and the source behind a material claim. Manufacturer specifications, calculations, outside reports and Leonard’s documented riding observations have different roles. Corrections and material commercial relationships belong with the coverage they affect.

A claim should have a source. Identify · verify · explain
Keep specifications, measurements and judgments distinct.

The scope of an assessment

Coverage identifies the board, battery, drive, wheels, region and relevant kit. A family name is insufficient when options change those features. New, used and refurbished offers are different purchase conditions and are not blended into one price comparison.

An assessment should explain the buyer it serves, the limitation that could change the choice and a relevant alternative. A commercial relationship is not a reason to remove a decision-changing weakness.

Sources and exact-product checks

Product facts start with current manufacturer material, instruction manuals, official support and identified retailer details. Suitable authoritative sources support topic guidance. A search snippet, gallery image or similar board does not verify the actual selected kit.

When official material disagrees, the conflicting statements remain unresolved until the correct revision is established. Failed access is recorded as failed retrieval; it is not automatically labelled a discontinued product or a broken source.

Original analysis and attribution

The guide, category articles, comparisons and future model reviews serve different decisions. Product-description paragraphs are not copied between them. Necessary names and objective specifications may recur when a reader needs the same fact in another context.

Independent experiences stay with their actual authors. Another rider’s measurements, ownership history or photographs cannot become Leonard’s test record. Competitor material may inform market research, but its findings are not used as the publication’s evidence without approved attribution.

Relationships and images

Affiliate recommendations carry a concise disclosure, with the full relationship explained separately. Relevant product loans, sponsorships or other material connections are disclosed with affected coverage. Board ownership or borrowing in Leonard’s general background does not establish the source of every product discussed.

Named-product images must match the identified platform and have an appropriate publication basis. Generic lifestyle illustrations are identified on the image-credit page and are not presented as product-test photographs.

Corrections and freshness

Private records retain source URLs, actual check dates, exact variants, contradictions and remaining questions. The visible commercial year is an edition label, not a claim that future tests or prices have already happened. Price-sensitive recommendations need refreshing before a later-season launch.

Use the corrections route to flag a claim or source. The publication will reassess the material point and explain a correction where it changes the buying decision.
